The Only All-Irish Place in Ireland

Barr Rúscaí in County Mayo (pop. 109) is the only local area in Ireland in which everybody is an Irish national. That’s out of more than three thousand such areas. Here are the ten Irish places with the most Irish people: >>>

The Top Ten

  1. Barr Rúscaí in County Mayo (pop. 109) 100% Irish
  2. Tulla in Offaly (pop. 108) 99-100% Irish
  3. Boola in Limerick County (pop. 142) 98-100% Irish
  4. Bunaveela in Mayo (pop. 108) 97-100% Irish
  5. Castlesampson in Roscommon (pop. 340) 99-99.7% Irish
  6. Carrickatee in Monaghan (pop. 307) 98-99.7% Irish
  7. Ballybeg Sth/Ballynaneasagh in Waterford City (pop. 273) 99-99.6% Irish
  8. Moyanna in Laois (pop. 271) 99-99.6% Irish
  9. Ballyconra in Kilkenny (pop. 267) 99-99.6% Irish
  10. Drumraney in Westmeath (pop. 243) 98-99.6% Irish

The reason why there is a range of percentages for each area is that a small number of people do not state their nationality on the census form, so we do not know whether these people are Irish nationals or not.

I live in Boola Co. Limerick and am proud to be Irish. I only dicovered an article in ” The Limerick Leader ” to-night telling the residents of Boola of this fact. I’m sure that all other residents are equally as proud of their heritage.
