Prank Letter to Cunard Cruise Line

Here’s a prank letter that I sent to Cunard Cruise Line a while ago. It is a query from an Irish lottery winner with a peculiar requirement for a cruise. >>>

The Letter

Dear Cunard Line,

I have just won a considerable sum on the Irish lottery, and I have always promised myself that I would take a luxury cruise if I won. This has been my dream, and now it can come true.

However, I have a medical condition called hydrophobia, which makes me afraid of water. I do NOT have rabies, which is also called hydrophobia. But I am absolutely terrified of water. Even thinking about the sea makes me anxious, nervous and irritable.

Is it possible for me to arrange a cruise where all of the ship’s facilities (casinos, sundecks, etc.) can be reached and used without seeing any water, and where a crew member can assist me on and off the ship so that I do not see any water?

Yours sincerely,
Mr Ger Matthews

Here is the reply that I got from Cunard.

I think the Cunard Line replied in an excellent mannner and considerable credit is due to them for doing so which is far more than can be said for you for being such time waster.

Good man Jim, you sound like a laugh a minute. Fancy coming for a pint?

Of course Cunard replied to a “lottery winner,” however they failed to improvise by offering to supply blinkers (similar to those worn by horses) for a small fee.
