Prank Letter – Reply from Cunard Cruise Line

On Tuesday I posted this prank letter that I sent to Cunard Cruise Line, from an Irish lottery winner with a peculiar requirement for a cruise. Here is the reply that I got from Cunard: >>>

Reply from Cunard

Dear Mr Matthews,

Thank you for your letter of 26 July and your interest in booking a Cunard holiday. Firstly, may I congratulate you on your lottery win.

Unfortunately, as a cruise ship is in effect a floating hotel it is inevitable that you will from time to time be able to see water, especially when utilising the facilities such as the open decks. You can of course minimise this by taking action such as booking an inside cabin, requesting a table in the centre of the restaurant and avoiding promenade and the open decks.

It would also greatly depend on the cruise you choose, as some cruises include a number of tender ports. (The ship anchors from the shore and passengers are transferred to shore in a small craft, known as a tender.) It is also highly likely that you will be able to see water when leaving and entering the ship at other ports.

Whilst not wishing to deter you, the above preventative measures may avoid viewing the sea, but you should keep in mind that you would be on a moving vessel and the ocean motion would still be felt.

May I suggest that, if you are still considering a cruise, P&O Cruises arrange day trip visits in Southampton. The day consists of a tour of one of our ships and lunch on board. There is a £25 charge for this. If you would like further information please do not hesitate to contact me.

I do hope we may have the pleasure of welcoming you on board in the future.

Yours sincerely,
Tina Sanderson
