On Wednesday I posted this prank letter that I sent to Michael D Higgins when he was Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht. Here’s the reply that I got from the poetic politico: >>>

Reply from Michael D Higgins

Dear Mr Mackay,

Thank you for your letter of 24 May. Thank you also for your kind comments regarding my appointment as Minister.

I commend you on your initial efforts at writing poetry. I will make enquiries regarding your queries about the assistance which are available to poets.

I will be in contact with you again as soon as possible about this matter.

Yours sincerely,
Michael D Higgins,
Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht
